The pharma cold chain: More visible, more sustainable — and colder
By World Courier
Discover how World Courier, part of the Cencora family of companies, is revolutionizing cold chain logistics for the life sciences industry. Our latest feature in Pharmaceutical Commerce offers an insightful look into our contribution to this rapidly evolving sector, particularly in biosimilar distribution and visibility solutions.
Alex Guite, SVP and GM at World Courier, emphasized that the rise of biosimilars in the global market is simply 'business as usual' for us. We've been integral to the approval process of biosimilars in Europe and the US. As they transition into commercialization, our robust cold chain practices ensure seamless distribution.
To cater to increasingly complex pharmaceutical products entering clinical development, we're growing our network of transport stations across the United States. With three new additions in Denver, Indianapolis, and San Diego, our count now stands at 17 dedicated facilities nationwide. These stations are equipped with liquid nitrogen tanks and charging capabilities to meet the specialized logistics demands of advanced therapies.
World Courier recently unveiled its RTLM solution which offers unparalleled visibility throughout our global network. This innovative tool complements our existing transport and inventory management systems. Alex Guite noted that unlike other services on the market where visibility often involves multiple providers with fragmented data coverage, "the difference with RTLM is that we are offering it throughout our network as a standard service."
We acknowledge sustainability as a critical aspect of modern cold-chain logistics. Alex Guite shared how what was once considered 'nice-to-have' has now become a prerequisite in client conversations regarding sustainability measures.
