Are You Ready for the New US Customs Regime?
June 15th date set for automated customs/FDA clearances
We are. We’re all ready for the June 15th transition to the new automated customs entry system ACE, for items being imported into the United States.
The World Courier team has been working for several weeks to be fully compliant with the USA Customs and FDA requirements to process all shipments subject to FDA (Food and Drug Administration) via the ACE (Automated Commercial Environment).
What you can expect from us:
- We’re gladly sharing with you the items needed to make the target date possible. The agencies have issued a relaxation of the data requirements for mandatory information to make the target date possible. CBP (Customs and Border Protection) and the FDA strongly encourage filers to file as many of their electronic entries and entry summaries as possible in ACE in advance of the due date.Take a look at the PDF summary we've attached explaining the data elements.
- World Courier is making the necessary changes to ensure we obtain all the required data elements. This means changes to our OK to send process. We will require Customs Power of Attorney from most importers, and we’re already working on that.
- Releases are expected to be significantly quicker. The main benefit that importers should see is that the added information will allow the FDA to do more on-screen reviews from the electronically transmitted data, limiting the number of document requests and holds.
So, yes, we’re ready. At World Courier, we plan ahead to ensure all shipments have a successful delivery.
