World Courier Sponsor of the
Barclaycard USA Cycle Challenge 2007
Starting late September 2007 a team of eight employees of Barclaycard will cycle across America to raise money for 4 charities in the UK: BBC Children In Need, Macmillan Cancer Support, the Alzheimer’s Society and CORD (dedicated to rebuilding lives damaged by conflict).
They will start out in San Diego on the west coast of America and the team will climb from sea level to over 8,000 feet and back down again, across 4 mountains ranges and 3 deserts, through heat and humidity, arriving in St Augustine, Florida some 3,000+ miles later.
Inspired by the incredible journey of the late
Jane Tomlinson who battled cancer for seven years and raised over £1 million for charity, eight amateur cyclists from Barclaycard will attempt to follow one of Jane’s greatest achievements, cycling 6 – 8 hours - an average of 80 miles per day, for 41 days.
The riders are :
Ned Buchman
Tim Carlier
Christine Chadwick
Genevieve de Winter
Bruce Ellis
Jim Robertson
Andy Robinson
Caroline Sanders
The World Courier Group of Companies wishes the Barclaycard Team all the best in their endeavour.
